Wedding at Zoo ~2~

サンディエゴのWild Animal Park での結婚式にいってきました！
夕方の結婚式まで時間があったので、園内をみてまわってきました。

This weekend I went to the Wild Animal Park in San Diego to attend a wedding ceremony with my friend Yuko.
Before the wedding ceremony started, we walked and took a look at the animals inside the park.Here are some pictures from inside the park.

Wild Animal Parkはこんなカンジ。

ゴリラ。 Gorillas 周りは檻ではなく、水堀で囲まれているんだけど、ゴリラとかチンパンジーは、体中の筋肉の密度が高く脂肪が少ないため、水に浮かないんだって。

前、どこかの動物園でおぼれるチンパンジーを観光客が救出してたのをテレビで見たことあった。

The gorillas' enclosure is surrounded by a moat-- not a metal fence.
Did you know that gorillas and chimps cannot swim and they are scared of water?
They sink in the water because their propotion of muscle to fat is too high. (Muscle is much denser than fat and sinks, fat floats).
I recall I saw a visitor at a zoo rescue a drowning chimp on TV before.

ダリぃってカンジのライオン。なーんにもしてない。

An utterly exhausted, lethargic-looking lion.次にとおりかかかったら寝てた。

広い園内は歩くと結構疲れるのでライドツアーが便利。
Yuko and I paid $10 each and joined a ride tour because the park was too large to walk and it was so hot!!




大好きなゾウのエリア。ちょうど清掃中で、ゾウたちが一箇所に集められれて、近くで見ることができたよ。
ゾウって、おとなしくてゆったりしてるのに、ライオンやトラも一目置いてる、ってカンジでいいよね。

The elephant is one of my favorite animals because he seems so relaxed and calm.
Lions and tigers try to avoid conflict with elephants because an elephant can put one foot down on a lion or tiger and kill it instantly!
When we were at the elephant area, the park staff were cleaning the enclosure.
They put elephants into the corner so that we could take a close look at the elephants.

早くしてくれーと待ちきれない様子のゾウ。 "Aren't you done cleaning yet? "

The couple invited 150 people.
Most of them flew from the San Francisco Bay area to San Diego.
Like every other wedding I have ever attended, this one was so touching and beautiful.
150人の招待客が見守る中での結婚セレモニー
やっぱり結婚式っていいもんです。ジーンとくるなあ。

園内にあるプライベートイベント会場で、レセプションパーティー。

The charter bus carried all wedding guesst to the reception party, held at the pavilion at the park.
Everything was well-arranged. 午後4時で閉園後は、一般のお客さんは一切いないので貸切状態。

Everyone seemed so happy!

最終日は、サンディエゴ湾に浮かぶコロナド島へ。
The next day, Yuko and I drove to Coronado Island.

1887年に立てられた木造のHotel Del Coronadoが有名。
There is a famous hotel " Hotel Del Coronado" on Coronado Island.
It was built in 1887 and made of wood.

夕方のフライトまで、ホテルの目の前に広がるコロナドビーチでのんびり。
Since we were free all day until our evening flight home, we hung around at Coronado Beach.
